Location: Softball Field at Recreation Park

League Fee: The league fee is $304.00 per team. The cost for non-resident groups is $365.00 per team. League fees and completed rosters are due by the registration deadline.

Your team must meet one of the three criteria:

1. El Segundo Resident Team: Participants must be a resident of El Segundo with a valid Rec ID Card or have a Driver’s License/CA ID with a residential address. Teams must be comprised of at least seventy-five percent El Segundo residents to meet this criteria.
2. El Segundo Business Sponsored Team: Participants must be: An employee of the El Segundo  company/business that is sponsoring your team. A letter from management must accompany your roster on company/business letterhead to verify employment or A resident of El Segundo with a valid Rec ID or have a Driver’s License/CA ID with a residential address.
3. Non-Resident Team: If the maximum amount of teams isn't met for the league, then non-resident teams will be accepted to meet the league max
   
   *Priority will be given to El Segundo Resident and Business teams. In the event that spots in the league remain unfilled after the registration deadline, registration will be open to teams that do not meet resident or business criteria.

1. Managers may request that the umpire validate a signed roster with a photo ID prior to start of game
2. If a protest is not filed with the umpire, one must be filed with the Sports Supervisor within 24 hours following game time accompanied by a $25 check. Sports Supervisor will rule on any protest.

1. Players are required to wear tie-type shoes that cover the entire foot. Loafers, slip-ons, metal cleats or bare feet are not permitted.
2. Infield positions may be in any order as long as there is an equal number of male and female players. Outfield positions must alternate by gender with the rover being the same gender as the center fielder. If a team is short by one female, they must resort to using three outfielders, with a female playing center and males in left and right field. There is no rover position if a team has fewer than 10 players. The “extra” male player must play catcher. If a team has eight players, they must play three in the outfield (male-female-male order) and five in the infield, with a male covering home as a catcher.
3. A team can play an official game without forfeiting with a minimum of eight eligible players. Among those eight players, a team must consist of either: three men and five women; five men and three women; or four men and four women. In no case can there be more than five males on the field.
4. Starting pitch count is 0-0. The pitcher must pitch the ball by hand in an underhanded manner. The strike zone extends to 18 inches from both sides of the plate and one foot high. Pitches will be called a ball if: the bottom of the ball is more than 12 inches off the ground as it crosses home plate or the ball stops short of home plate. A pitched ball touching any portion of the white lines marking the strike zone is considered kickable and will be called a strike. Balls must be kicked with leg below the knee.
5. An offensive player must follow through with their leg when attempting to make contact. Bunting is not allowed.
6. A player that has two strikes on them will be called out if the next pitch they attempt to kick is a foul ball.
7. A maximum of five runs can be scored by a team each inning for innings 1-6. There is no run limit for the seventh inning.
8. If a male walks on four straight pitches without a strike, he will be awarded two bases. There are no automatic walks.
9. Courtesy runners will be allowed – male for male or female for female. The person making the last out will be designated as the courtesy runner. The number of courtesy runners will be agreed upon by both managers at the Umpire’s pre-game meeting.
10. Infield fly rule will be called by the umpire if the ball is popped up in the infield when there is a runner on base and less than two outs. This is to prevent an intentionally dropped ball to create a double-play.
11. The rover may not take a defensive play from a player on the infield. However, the rover is allowed to bring the ball from the outfield back onto the infield. An outfielder must release the ball before they reach the infield and may not come onto the infield for any reason.
12. No sliding or contact with the fielder is allowed. Sliding will result in the runner being called out. For safety purposes, runners are allowed to overrun bases without penalty. However, if the base runner makes a turn advancing to toward the next base, they may be tagged out.
13. All defensive plays at a base are force outs. Tagging a runner is not recommended for safety purposes. In a circumstance where the ball is fielded away from a base, the defensive player may throw the ball at a runner to record an out.
14. Hitting a runner with the ball above shoulder level is not permitted. Any runner hit above shoulder level will be declared safe. Conversely, any runner who jumps to avoid being hit by the ball will automatically be called out.
15. Players in the field may kick the ball towards another player in the field. This is helpful if a long throw is needed.
16. Male players may not take obvious defensive plays from female players.
17. A new inning cannot begin with 2 minutes or less of game time remaining. This is TBD by the umpire/scorekeeper.
18. A game that is called off by the umpire for any reason before three (3) full innings of play shall not be considered a regulation game and a new game may be rescheduled.
19. Any player ejected from a game will automatically be suspended for the next game. NO EXCEPTIONS! Any physical contact with an Umpire will result in an automatic ejection for that game and exclusion for the remainder of the season. The excluded player must request special permission, in writing, from the Sports Supervisor to be reinstated.
20. All rules not stated here will be at the discretion of the umpire. If a team is found to be in violation of these rules, the offending player will be ejected from the game and a one game suspension will be assessed. The ball will be ruled an out and any base runners must return to their original position on the base paths.
